Artist in Residence

The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery started its life as Customs House, and then became the Commonwealth Bank, followed by the Library and finally the Gallery.

During the time the building was occupied as a bank, the first floor served as accommodation and living and dining quarters for the Bank Manager.

The Gallery has retained the accommodation area, which is now used as the Artist in Residence apartment.

The residence is used by visiting artists and tutors, and consists of a bedroom, lounge room, adjoining balcony and bathroom facilities functioning as a self-contained unit.  Laundry and cooking facilities are located on the first floor in a separate shared space.

Over the years the apartment has been a residence for international artists through to local artists sharing their skills and experience with our local community.

The Artist in Residence allows the Gallery to increase engagement of our local community with artists, deliver creative programs to the region and encourage new relationships and skills development.

If you would like to find out more about opportunities surrounding the residence please contact the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery on phone (07) 4130 4750 or via email at
