Artist/s: John Olsen

In Aussie Icons and the Wild Cosmos, well known Bundaberg-based sculptor John Olsen is preserving history through the use of recycled metals. John’s striking sculptures consider civilization’s finite tenure as the predominant species on planet earth. His work recognises that there are many challenges ahead in our changing environment and highlights that humankind’s understanding of deep space is fundamental to our survival.

John Olsen began experimenting with sculpture in the early 1970’s and found it a very challenging art practice to explore. He is well known for his Ceratodus sculpture at the Burnett Riverside Parklands, part of the Bundaberg Regional Council Public Art Collection. He has work in private and public collections locally and across Queensland.
