Book an Education Kit

Bundaberg Regional Galleries has two sets of education kits available for loan: Queensland Museum Education Kits and Primary Art Education Kits.

QUEENSLAND MUSEUM KITS

The Queensland Museum kits change each semester and cover different topics such as natural history, culture, history, biodiversity, science and technology.

Kit contents vary and may contain artefacts, specimens, posters and booklets that are designed to be handled by users or used as display items.

The Bundaberg Regional Galleries have, in consultation with teachers, developed 4 visual arts education kits designed for primary school students.

The kits cover the following topics:

WHO CAN LOAN THE KITS?

Kits can be loaned by Queensland schools, libraries, art galleries, museums, historical societies, scout and cub groups, kindergartens and childcare centres, Universities, TAFE, community groups, environmental agencies, home educators, aged care facilities, arts and cultural groups and other community organisations.

HOW TO USE THE KITS

The kits are designed to support the Queensland curriculum and can be used to provide the tangible component to a teaching unit. As an example students have been able to observe the life cycle of insects through resin blocks, get up close and personal with taxidermied animal specimens, touch sea shells, wear clothing from different cultures, handle casts of dinosaur toes and observe fossils.

Kits are often used as displays in school libraries in conjunction with Book Week or to highlight a particular topic.

For arts and cultural groups the specimens and models make great models to observe from, draw and create sculptural work.

LOAN DURATION AND COLLECTION POINTS

Kits can be loaned one at a time, for a period of 2 weeks and collected from the Gallery at 1 Barolin Street, Bundaberg. At the end of the loan the user returns the kit to the Bundaberg or Childers Gallery.

Kits are free to loan.
